Join us September 21st at 6pm in Grand Haven for an evening to learn about Labor Trafficking in Michigan.
It i
s estimated that there are around 28 million children, women and men being trafficked around the world right now. Of that 28 million, around 22 million are trafficked for labor, yet we hear little about it.
This presentation will seek to give understanding into what human trafficking is, and how to recognize the signs. Also, we will spend time learning about the specifics of labor trafficking, what industries are more at-risk and what we can do in our communities about it. We will discuss labor trafficking through: domestic servitude, migrant farmworkers, the illicit massage industry and more. The library will be hosting End Exploitation: An Immersive Experience at this time as well. This is an immersive experience that gives an even greater understanding into what labor trafficking is and honors the resilience of Survivors. Attendees are welcome to walk through the exhibit before or after the presentation.
The exhibit will be set up at the library from 9/21-9/24 if you are unable to attend on the evening of the 21st.
The Michigan Anti-Trafficking Project is an organization with a mission to prevent and end human trafficking in Michigan and beyond. We do this through training, education, community engagement and grassroots advocacy. We look forward to engaging with the Grand Haven community around this important topic.
