A crucial community educational event dedicated to increasing understanding of human trafficking by:
Educating on key concepts: The Honorable Judges Nicole Castka and The Honorable Judge Deborah Thomas, both judges in the Criminal Division of the Wayne County Circuit Court, explaining the elements of human trafficking, including force, fraud, coercion, and the victim’s lack of consent.

Recognizing the common lures of human trafficking: Jill Long, President of Hope Against Trafficking, identifying the vulnerabilities, deceptive tactics, and manipulative language traffickers employ.

Highlighting systems and industries: Kelsey Lindsey, Victim Assistance Program Specialist with the Department of Homeland Security, exploring the various systems and industries that contribute to this crime.

Encouraging action: Barb Raush, Founding Member and Vice President of Hope Against Trafficking, inspiring attendees to prevent and combat human trafficking.
The evening will feature presentations, opportunities to sign up for newsletters, and a chance to support the cause.

MAP is partnering with Soroptomist in this event and will host a resource table.
