Freedom Coalition

The Freedom Coalition brings together experienced community advocates and professionals for a unified and comprehensive approach to addressing human trafficking in southeast Michigan. Our vision is to eradicate human trafficking through collaborative efforts in the areas of prevention, demand abatement, survivor support, and community awareness and engagement. The Freedom Coalition plans to meet the 4th Tuesday of every other month for the sharing of new research, best practices, case studies, education, and specialized training. Demand Abatement Programs in Southeast Michigan

We invite Alternatives for Girls to share with us about their Human Trafficking/Prostitution Offenders Program, (POP), also known as “John School” – “a community effort to end the demand for prostitution and the sexual exploitation of women and children”. They work in conjunction with the Southwest Community Justice Center located in Detroit. The program is for 17 year-olds and above who are recipients of a ticket for, “ Offer to Engage the Services of Another for an Act of Prostitution.” The program consists of four classes that discuss the following topics: Health Risks, Survivor Perspective, Community Impact, and Gender Socialization.

Crisis Resource Center Manager, Alternatives for Girls

Audrey has worked as an advocate in some form for fifteen years. She started working for Alternatives for Girls (AFG) in 2018. She is currently the Crisis Resource Center (CRC) Manager. Under the umbrella of the CRC, she manages three programs that include ‘Street Outreach’, (assisting current sex workers), ‘New Choices’, (assisting survivors of sex work and human trafficking), and ‘Domestic Violence Advocacy’, (assisting DV survivors).
